rethink the web ⤴
a motherfucking website ‒ a very aggressive way of saying that good websites can (and should more often) be simple [yes, it's satire, for those playing the home game.]
tools to use
if social media and boring website templates have got you down, here are some tools to help you rediscover independence and creativity on the web.
instant web page
itty.bitty.site ‒ create a site entirely contained within its own link. itty bitty sites are portable, private, and easy to share with a link or QR code!
txti.ex ‒ just type your content into the box and boom! instant web page! if you like, customize your site with a title, author, and description and format your content with markdown.
sdnotes ‒ just type /yoursitename to create a url and you've created a site! no username, no password. sdnotes = standard definition notes.
yourworldoftext ‒ an infinite grid of text editable by any visitor. the changes made by other people appear on your screen as they happen. put any letters at the end of the URL to go to a new world.
organize your life
tiddlywiki ‒ tiddywiki is a unique non-linear notebook for capturing, organising and sharing complex information. use it to keep your to-do list, to plan an essay or novel, or to organise your wedding. your tiddlywiki exports as a single html file which can be stored locally or hosted online.
(I use TiddlyDesktop and save to OneDrive.)
listography ‒ an easy-to-use tool for creative list writing and sharing. use it for to-do lists, wishlists, autobiographical lists, or whatever else you like.
